What's been the highlight of your Dj career?
So far it has to be the time I played a Valentine's Night set at Koh Lanta from Sunset to Sunrise... there were over 8000 people there that night - that was an incredible night. But actually playing at SOUND is a pretty big deal for me too - it's the most beautiful club on the island by far... I still get goosebumps before my set. What music did you grow up loving?
Hmmm it was a progression of musical styles. I guess it went like this... Thai Folk, Thai Pop, Brit Pop, Indie Rock, Electro and finally Dance... but even now I haven't stopped - right now my iPod is full of 70's Soul music. When did you start Dj-ing?
I really got serious after a girl broke my heart in 2001... I sat at home sulking and feeling sorry for myself. Then I decided that I wanted to learn a new skill and started teaching myself how to DJ - it's not like I took a course or anything, I just found my own way.Where did you master your craft?
I used to work in a little club in Koh Lanta with my best friend DJ Ekanan... we used to work until the club finished, everyone would go home and we'd stay up all night spinning records and getting drunk until the sun came up or someone came to complain about the noise! What music are you happiest playing?
When I'm working I love House and Electro. But that's a bit heavy for listening to at home, so I relax with Marvin Gaye and old Motown tracks. What song sums up your personality?
Man, these are difficult questions! I don't know... my personality in a song? Let's try Fantasy by John Hammond - it's a super-cool, funky jazz track from the 70's... I love it because my whole life has been one long fantasy! What big names have you played alongside?
Well they're not really big names, but I really enjoyed playing with Shafunkers from UK and Ekanan who taught me how to spin AND enjoy myself at the same time. What nights do you spin at Sound Phuket?
Saturday nights - This is SOUND with Mikey Mike. It's a great night for me. We get some real crazy guests in and they love house music. Also whenever we get an International DJ, I get to play on the same bill... I have to remind myself I'm the same guy who started spinning less than 9 years ago to get over a broken heart!

What's been the highlight of your Dj career?
I've played all over the world and in lots of clubs, some small and some huge... but the real highlight for me wasn't a big venue, it was the time Lil Louie Vega was in Thailand for one night and chose to come and listen to me play... "Of all the bars in all the world".What music did you grow up loving?
I was a funny kid... when all my friends were listening to pop music, I was tuning in to Soul Music, Funk and Jazz - I think it gave me an original start to my DJ career. When did you start Dj-ing?
I'm just a young student, really - I started about 10 years ago when I was just 18 years old.Where did you master your craft?
I learnt from DJ Karizma of Basement Boy records while playing in a the Ambassador Club in France. What music are you happiest playing?
Like I said before, I'm not from a conventional background - while most of my colleagues love the newest, coolest house tracks, I kick back with classic disco, funky House and Jackin' House. What song sums up your personality?
It's a golden oldie from 1977 - Marvin Gaye's classic Got to Give it up - it's about a quiet guy who is too shy to dance, but he lets loose and gets funky... that's me... a little quiet, but when the music's right I'm a dancin' machine! What big names have you played alongside?
I guess the biggest would be DJ Jack_E who was resident at Les Caves du Roy in St Tropez... We played together at Bus Café in Lyon... that was cool - me and Jack_E spinning in front of my home crowd. What nights do you spin at Sound Phuket?
I play every Friday which is UltraSound - it's pretty hardcore House music - gives me a chance to explore my wilder, darker alter ego...Play Jam Jam

What's been the highlight of your Dj career?
There have been so many... I think the most fun was hosting the Miss France private after party - so many beautiful women!! But living and working all over Asia with some great performers week in week out... I'd have to say these are some of the best days of my life. What music did you grow up loving?
My mother was the biggest influence on me while growing up. She raised me pumping house & electronic music into my blood & took me to my first Rave when I was only thirteen years old. On the flip side, my father was a musician & used to play me 70's Funk, Rock, Blues & Soul. I've always loved all kinds of music but the music I loved the most growing up was Hip Hop and Breakbeats. From 1996 onwards Heavenly Social parties at Turnmills in London changed my life each week seeing acts like: THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS, FATBOYSLIM, MONKY MAFIA, FREESTYLERS, KRAFTY KUTS, JAMES LAVELL & lots more...When did you start Dj-ing?
1992... right after going to that gig with my Mum... how street-cred is that?Where did you master your craft?
In a hollowed-out volcano lair staffed by beautiful (but evil) henchwomen.... Or in my bedroom at home - you take your pick. What music are you happiest playing?
Broken beats, Electro House, 80s remixes, Funk, Hip Hop & Mashups; BIG BAD BASSELINES THAT ROCK THE ROOM!What song sums up your personality?
Oh no! I've seen TommyBoy's answers... it's the same track 'Bonkers' by Dizzee Rascal. Now there's a plug for you - TWO DJ's listing it as their favourite track. What big names have you played alongside?
Quite a few - I've been in the right place at the right time. Dj Zink, (UK) Danny Breaks (UK), Dj Pager (UK), Dj Octo (UK), Dj Joeki (Thai), Dj Ankur (Ind). What nights do you spin at Sound Phuket?
I do Bootlegs Inc every Sunday... I think it's the broadest night we have - virtually any kind of music goes, as long as it's funky and makes you want to get up and move. We have guests of all ages and backgrounds - I love seeing young kids singing the words to 70's Motown and guys in their fifties dancing to hip-hop - music is the great leveler.Play Animal

What's been the highlight of your Dj career?
Funny, but when I was a teenager, I was a huge fan of Derrick May the techno legend from Detroit... and then in 1996 I was in Singapore chatting to a club owner who happened to know Derrick May. Just a few short weeks later we were on the same bill... incredible feeling - like meeting your sporting hero or favourite movie star and playing a game of football with them or acting with them! What music did you grow up loving?
Ahem... well I was a child of the 80's so I grew up listening to all those cool New Wave bands like Duran Duran and Depeche Mode... later I moved onto the Alternative scene - Smiths, Cure and New Order. When did you start Dj-ing?
Almost as long as I can remember I've been spinning records in some form or another, but I started getting paid for it at a warehouse gig in downtown LA in 1991.Where did you master your craft?
Ha! That assumes I've 'mastered' it. Actually DJing is like any other art form... there's always something new to learn - if you stay still, you get stale - clubbers know it and you know it!What music are you happiest playing?
I love really deep, minimal House music, like Nick Curly or Ben Watt's stuff - it's simple but effective. What song sums up your personality?
I was in London for the first time and I heard this brilliant track - Future of the Future by Everything but the Girl and Deep Dish... even now 11 years later I still love that track - it's melancholy and positive at the same time...What big names have you played alongside?
Well, I've been around quite a bit (laughs), so I can drop plenty of big names... Derrick May like I said before and Lee Burridge, Derrick Carter, Layo and Bushwaka and even Paul Oakenfold. What nights do you spin at Sound Phuket?
My job title is Head of Entertainments, so I have to be able to jump in and cover ANY night at SOUND, but my regular night is Saturday... This is SOUND... which is when we play my kind of music - Deep Minimal House... (laughs again) of course, I write the schedules, so I get preferential treatment!Play Zorro

What's been the highlight of your Dj career?
Warming up for Krafty Kuts & Dynamite MC, spinning at London's Notting Hill Carnival - great fun but scary as hell. What music did you grow up loving?
I was 9 years old and I heard Newlceus - Jam On It and my life-long love for all sounds soulful, electric and funky was born. Listening to pirate radio and going to illegal parties meant the music I was immersed in spanned the genres from rare soul to acid house from reggae to hip hop. Anything goes, always on an underground tip. I have been digging in the crates ever since. When did you start Dj-ing?
In 1998. I was promoting my own parties, done a bit of DJing at home. But then I had to fill in for a DJ that didn't turn up, I smashed it and loved it. I had found my calling - I've never looked back since.Where did you master your craft?
I learnt 'on-the-job' playing in parties, pubs and clubs all over London. After a few years, I realized, "I'm pretty good at this... I should do it full time." So I did! What music are you happiest playing?
Shelf wobbling beats. Funky, soul-moving, gotta-dance tracks. I love being in control of the crowd - I love putting on a track no-one would expect to hear and then seeing all the hands go in the air - there's no feeling like it!What song sums up your personality?
Roy Ayers - Everybody Loves The Sunshine - love the track because it's such a rare groove classic. It reminds me of hot summer days in the city and hearing the mighty Norman Jay play on Kiss FM when it was still a pirate radio station. What big names have you played alongside?
Some real legends - Krafty Kuts, Vinyl Junkies, Matt Cantor and, of course, SOUND Phuket's own DJ Kensho... lovely guy and great taste in music. What nights do you spin at Sound Phuket?
Well, my musical knowledge is pretty broad, so I play the classic nights - Bootlegs Inc - mash-ups and remixes on Sundays and RetroActiv every Monday - when I play just about any dance music I feel like - I can drop in a Michael Jackson track and follow it up with Arrested Development - whatever sounds good.Play There Was A Time

What's been the highlight of your Dj career?
You know, there are loads of times when I have felt honoured or proud of my work, but to be honest the best times are just playing in a club packed full of crazy dancing people - it doesn't need to be a huge venue. What music did you grow up loving?
Same as most kids my age - I listened to metal - Kiss and Zeppelin, but I also had a secret - I loved Motown and Soul. When did you start Dj-ing?
I was living in London and I think I'd been to every club in the city... finally I figured, "These DJ guys have the best job in the world!" So I taught myself to do what they do!Where did you master your craft?
Every DJ learns in one of two places - his parents' garage or his bedroom... For me it was my bedroom - practicing every night after work and then tweaking my style in the clubs. What music are you happiest playing?
I'm really big on Electro House - that's what energizes me and makes me crazy. What song sums up your personality?
'Bonkers' by Dizzee Rascal and Armand Van Helden -"People think I'm bonkers. But I just think I'm free. Man, I'm just livin' my life. There's nothing crazy about me!" See? Great lyrics! What big names have you played alongside?
I had a great time playing alongside Mr Mike, but the one that really gave me butterflies in my stomach was playing with The Stanton Warriors. I mean, those guys are immortals! What nights do you spin at Sound Phuket?
I play Kinky Beats every Tuesday - sexy, dreamy house music, and Jet-Set Wednesday which is hip hop and R&B.Play Now you're gone

Bangkok Invaders

Like Hip-Hop itself, DjayBuddha was born and raised in New York City. As a kid growing up in Jackson Heights, Queens, he began experimenting with turntables in '95. One day he caught a live showcase with DJ Kid Capri, a part of Puff Daddy and the Family's 1997 "No Way Out" tour. The show ignited his passion, talent and love for music into a calling that exploded into a career.
One of his career highlights was backing Thai pop diva Tata Young on the track, "Dangerous", in 2005. That was just a warm-up as Thai hip-hop giants, Thaitanium took over the hip-hop side of the music biz, bringing their style of Thai hip-hop to the MTV Asia Awards, and opening for 50 Cent, Jay Z, Rihanna and Nas on their Asian tours.

The other half of Bangkok Invaders is DJ Ono. With skills that usually take decades to hone, Ono has taken the scene by storm. He got his first set of technics at the age of 14 and began knocking out quality mixes almost immediately.
The past 10 years have given Ono the chance to work with DJ Cashmoney, DJ Lord, The Beat Junkies and DJ A-Trak (Kanye West's DJ).
5 years ago, Ono and Buddha combined forces to become Bangkok Invaders - the #1 crew in South East Asia. Bangkok has since been blessed with their talents as they mix and match their unique musical influences to create an aural tapestry comprised of the hottest new Hip-Hop, Reggae and R&B, as well as old school joints that are guaranteed to keep heads bobbin' and booties shakin' from sun down to sun up.

He became resident at several well-known clubs and produced pumping house tracks for European record producers such as Groovalax. He has supported such eminent acts as Frankie Knuckle, Mark Doyle (of Hed Kandi fame), Brian Molko, Lisa Loud and Louie Vegas.
With his scratching skills still much in demand, he competed in several high-profile competitions and was finally spotted by Bed Supperclub about two years ago. He can be seen regularly spinning his distinctive style of Brokenbeat, Nu Jazz and Breakbeat to the crowds at Bed Supperclub. Sound Phuket is excited and thrilled to have him play here too.
